muslimjourneys_fall2016-copyYou’re invited to join us for a new Muslim Journeys scholar-led book discussion series in 2016-2017, focusing  on Islam in the U.S.  and on Muslim American literature.

In a “sneak peek” session this fall, we will read and discuss the nonfiction work Thomas Jefferson’s Qur’an: Islam and the Founders, by historian Denise A. Spellberg, with lecture and discussion by Salah Hassan, associate professor of English and Muslim Studies at MSU. This session will take place on Wednesday October 26th at 7pm, in the MSU Main Library Green Room (4th floor West side).

In 4 sessions from late January through mid-March, we will be reading and discussing The Moor’s Account (historical fiction), The Autobiography of Malcolm XMs. Marvel (comics) and Emails from Scheherazad (poetry). These sessions will also be held on Wednesday evenings at the MSU Main Library.

All sessions are free and open to the public; light refreshments will be served. Community members, undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, and alumni are invited to participate. Registration is encouraged but not required.
