Interested in how entrepreneurship & innovation look in the arts? Do you want to connect with professionals doing innovative work in creative fields? The College of Arts & Letters (CAL) Excel Network is excited to launch its On the Road: Grand Rapids trip on Friday, October 26 from 7:30am-5:30pm. This trip will offer a small group of current CAL students the opportunity to visit several organizations and network with MSU alumni and other professionals to learn more about career pathways in arts & entrepreneurship.
Our trip will consist of the following:
– Bus tour of Grand Rapids to learn more about what it’s like to live, work, and play in the city
– Visit to Public Thread, a cut and sew apparel & textile design company with a sustainable business model, to learn more about their work, how they started, and how to get involved with internships
– Panel of professionals currently working in arts & entrepreneurship in Grand Rapids
– An introduction to the MSU West Michigan Alumni Club
– Lunch with MSU alumni
– Browse the Urban Institute of Contemporary Arts (UICA)
– Visit to ArtPrize headquarters to learn about their operations, different job roles within their organization, and how to get involved in internships
Costs: There is a nonrefundable $15 program fee to cover lunch, transportation, and admission to the UICA. After accepted to the program, students will pay for the trip through the Handshake registration system.
