This weeklong study away program in Los Angeles takes place over Spring Break 2017. Students will earn 2 credits while focusing on networking and creative career paths in the entertainment and design industry. The goal of the program is to introduce students to the work culture of the industry, create opportunities to forge networks and develop possible career paths, connect them with alumni and friends of the College in the L.A. area, and get a sense of the place and culture of Los Angeles.
Behind the scenes tours and visits will give students an opportunity to see daily work life at places we are visiting, allowing them to ask our alumni specific questions and to participate in professionally productive activities such as pitching project ideas, discussing career trajectories, and portfolio/resume review.
Goals of the program include:
- Connecting students with MSU alumni in LA area
- Exploring creative jobs and possible careers in the entertainment industry
- Seeing workspaces and understanding work processes in the industry
- Gaining an understanding of local culture and space
