An Interdisciplinary Forum on Aging Research

As concerns related to population aging have grown, the need to establish a serious aging presence and a critical mass of aging research, education and outreach at MSU has also grown. MSU is well endowed with world-class researchers and educators who can generate innovative ideas, secure funding, and conduct high-impact projects that will address aging issues locally and globally. We also have a multitude of strong community partners. It’s time we came together, met each other, and began to move toward a cohesive identity and force for change. To help achieve this goal, we are pleased to invite you to an Interdisciplinary Forum on Aging, sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies (OVPRGS), which will be held on Thursday, April 28th, 2016 in the Kellogg Center, Room 105 A&B at 3:00 pm.  The Forum will showcase a wide range of aging research being conducted across campus with several short talks (~5min each) by Clare Luz (Family Medicine), Shelia Cotten (Media and Information), Richard Lucas (Psychology), Irving Vega (Translational Science and Molecular Medicine), and Scott Westerman (Alumni Relations) followed by a reception. This venue provides a rare opportunity for learning about what is happening at MSU, networking, and considering next steps as we help create a culture at MSU for initiatives that support positive aging.

The OVPRGS Interdisciplinary Forum Series is designed to strengthen communication around important topics by bringing faculty together from diverse parts of campus to meet in an informal setting, so that MSU expertise might be better synchronized for, among other actions, responsiveness to future RFPs. Please plan to attend this Thursday afternoon forum at 3:00 PM on April 28th, 2016, in the Kellogg Center, Room 105 A&B.Refreshments and appetizers will be provided.
