Gender, Sex, and Feminism in the United Kingdom Info Session

Gender, Sex, and Feminism in the United Kingdom Info Session

Program Description

This program is brought to you by the Center for Gender in Global Context (GenCen) in collaboration with academic faculty from the UK. The program will be delivered by Dr Lucy Thompson, who is a feminist psychologist from the UK but now based in Lansing, Michigan. In the program, students will experience London as a global site of power and knowledge. Together, we will examine London as a place of great diversity, but also as a place of great inequality. Learning activities will combine traditional lectures and tutorials with on-site learning, guest lectures from UK-based feminist academics, walks, tours, and trips further afield. Our on-site learning activities will take place at locations such as the Natural History Museum, Houses of Parliament, Tate Modern, and the British Library. To celebrate international Pride month, we will also make a trip to Soho Pride. We will also take a day trip to the North of England to visit Feminist Archive North – a large archive of materials from British feminist movements based at the University of Leeds.
