Published in 1915, Luigi Pirandello’s novel Si gira… [Shoot…] set in
the world of early cinema represents one of the highpoints in film
discourse in the early twentieth century.

This talk analyzes narratives of stardom and celebrity in the years surrounding WWI that
contribute to the emergence of a “literature” of early Italian cinema.
