It’s an art exhibit event that’smindful to various audiences including children, people under autism spectrum and physical disability. This event challenges how “art” is inviting its audience to engage with art pieces other than the visual. This is our third time we’re having this event and this year we’re inviting our audience to think about the meaning of “everyday” that is inclusive and diverse. The pieces will be touchable, listen-able through an app and many other possibilities are open to new experiences.
“Everyday” refers to what is routine, typical, ordinary. Yet what is ordinary to some is profoundly alienating to others. How can one describe the everyday as an all-inclusive term when every person is different? In order to achieve inclusion and maximum accessibility in all places, spaces, and things, we must render the familiar strange. Let’s begin to reimagine what “everyday” means.
