This workshop will complement the Department’s comprehensive exams workshop, focusing on both the comps proposal and the dissertation proposal. The roundtable format will feature between 4-5 faculty members and graduate students who will discuss the writing of the comps proposal and dissertation proposal. Ideally, students would be divided into groups that will focus on either of these topics, with no more than 3 students per group. Faculty and graduate students leading the discussions will be encouraged to bring examples to share with students in their groups.

**Participants are encouraged but not required to bring writing to this workshop. However, writing must be submitted ahead of time. Additionally, participants should only choose sections of the comps or diss. proposal to submit as these are often lengthy documents. For example, participants could submit a) their comps reading lists with subcategories to get feedback on how the lists are working overall; b) the first 1-2 pages of the comps or diss. proposal; or c) a chapter description in the diss. proposal.
