Practice Conference Talk – Starting Small: Cultivating Writing Assessment Principles Across Disciplines

Come support and listen to Monique’s conference practice talk for the Classroom Assessment for Language Teachers (CALT) Conference.
Title: “Starting Small: Cultivating Writing Assessment Principles Across Disciplines”
Presentation Abstract: To date, Fulcher (2012) presents the most comprehensive definition of Language Assessment Literacy (LAL), yet the language assessment community struggles to concretely define what deems an assessment stakeholder “literate” or minimally competent when tasked with creating language assessments (Pill & Harding, 2013). In the context of U.S. higher education, where writing assessments dominate student performance evaluations (Melzer, 2014), cultivating good principles of assessment-writing among faculty can feel insurmountable. This session will look at ways to overcome this challenge.
