The College of Arts & Letters regrets to announce that due to concerns about Covid 19, this event has been cancelled.

The 2nd annual CAL Creative Arts & Research Forum will take place on the afternoon of Thursday, April 2nd from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at the Huntington Club in Spartan Stadium.  A student-alumni networking event, which will include award announcements, will take place immediately following the forum.

This event provides students in the College of Arts & Letters (CAL) the opportunity to showcase their unique areas of creative activity or research within the arts and humanities, develop skills in assembling and sharing work, as well as practice in public speaking and performance. A select number of prizes/monetary awards will be presented to student winners.

The proposal deadline is Monday, February 17 at 5:00pm. Submit your proposal here.

This event is designed to:

  • Showcase your creative activity/research to your peers, faculty, alumni, and family
  • Provide an opportunity for you to meet and network with fellow students, faculty, and alumni of the College who are interested in creative activity/research
  • Obtain feedback on your creative activity/research and find future collaborators
  • Gain professional experience in your particular area of creative activity/research

Formats include:

  • Poster Presentation: Presenting a poster conversationally to interested individuals
  • Visual Presentation: ​​​​​​Presenting work conversationally to interested individuals
    • Examples include (but are not limited to) digital art, installation, mixed media, painting, photography, mannequin, prints and multiples, sculpture, video/film.
  • Lightning Talk: 5-minute Ted Talk-style presentation in front of an audience
  • Lightning Performance: 5-minute performance in front of an audience
    • Examples include (but are not limited to) acting, musicals, creative writing (ex. spoken word, storytelling)
