Beyond a Basic Right to Literacy

“For these are all of our children, we will all profit or pay for what they become” –James Baldwin

Michigan State University’s English Education faculty stand in solidarity with the Detroit youth and their families who brought a lawsuit against the state of Michigan for a basic right to literacy. As literacy researchers and teacher educators, we are offering this free virtual critical literacies program because we believe that Detroit youth deserve more than a basic literacy education.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

  • Participants must be Detroit residents and attend a Detroit public or charter school.
  • Participants are only allowed to take one critical literacy course.
  • Participants will need Internet access via smartphone, tablet, or computer to participate in most of the courses. Access to zoom will be provided.
  • Books and course materials will be provided free of cost. Details about “course supply” pickup date and location will be sent after registration.
  • Registration closes on July 15th or once courses are full.

Michigan State University Master of Public Health Program Virtual Information Webinars @ Online

The Master of Public Health program (MPH) is a 43 credit, fully online, professional degree program.  The MPH program is designed to ensure that our students are engaged in coursework and practical training to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform successfully, as public health professionals in the United States and internationally.

Trained public health professionals including epidemiologists, emergency managers, community health workers, biostatisticians, physicians, nutritionists and more are working together to keep our communities safe and provide the most up to date and accurate information.

With over 600 graduates, the MPH program at MSU has trained public health professionals and some current public health students working on the front lines as our country works through the global pandemic.

Join us for a virtual information webinar. You’ll hear directly from our admissions counselor and academic advisors regarding general program information, our application process and student guidance throughout the program.
