Spartan Innovations is pleased to bring you a newly developed workshop series we’re calling: Entrepreneur’s Pocket Guide. Across eleven weeks, our workshops bring focus to topics, from branding and storytelling to the building of solid pitch decks. Our goal: Helping aspiring, new, and seasoned entrepreneurs build confidence to follow their entrepreneurial paths.

On Wednesday, September 13th, we continue our journey with Aaryn Richard, Communications Manager for the Michigan State University Foundation and its subsidiaries. With Aaryn, we’ll be building upon the last two workshops and focusing in on the symbiosis of social media and brand presence, avoiding social media pitfalls, and working through how we use social media to tell our brands’ stories.

On Wednesday, September 20th, we continue our journey with Lesley Bergquist, CPA, of Simplified Tax & Accounting. Are you planning on becoming a registered company? You must file taxes, regardless if you are making money or not. Taxes are due every March or April, however, organizing your finances is an everyday duty. Learn how to stay on top of your expenses so that you are ready for tax time, as well as learn about financial statements and how to read them.

Spartan Innovations has developed a new workshop series to help entrepreneurs follow the road to success!

MSUFCU continues their financial workshop for students on a monthly basis. Note: this is a requirement for all Hatch members. Topics include:

1.Credit reports and scores – how to read them, why do they matter, how to build or fix credit

2. Business entity – Sole prop, DBA, LLC, Corp, etc… – what are the differences and how do I file? What paperwork do I need?

3. Applying for a loan – how to prepare, what you need to submit, how does MSUFCU make the decision to approve or deny

When: September 22, 2017

A Community Public Forum & Tourism Assessment Results

Who should attend: Residents, business owners, elected officials, organizations, educators, families and students.

What is First Impressions: It is an assessment designed to help communities learn about their strengths and weaknesses through the eyes of the first time visitor. Recently, the city of Marlette was successful in applying for the First Impressions program offered by Michigan State University Extension. During the summer of 2017, four tourists visited unannounced. The results of their visit will be shared during this evening forum. Community leaders will be present to listen to suggestions and guide next steps.
