A student involvement fair where student organizations, living unit groups, and major governing groups meet new and returning students to inform them about their organization’s purpose and events.

• An opportunity to recruit new members, while displaying literature, awards, and highlights of the organization.

Open to all students, all majors!  Looking for part-time employment while you are in school?  Need a local internship? Interested in learning more about opportunities in the Greater Lansing Area?  Then the Student Job & Internship Fair is for you!

Formerly known as Earn, Learn & Intern, this is the first major job fair of the school year and it’s just for students! Meet with representatives from on-campus employers and local companies and organizations who will be looking to hire MSU students during the school year.

The Department of Art, Art History, and Design invites all AAHD students to join the faculty and graduate students for a daylong exploration of Chicago’s art scene. Students will have the opportunity to visit the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Field Museum, etc. In addition to the viewing of work at museums, students can walk through Chicago’s gallery districts and view public art in the city. Since each student has their own interests, each will be able to select which museums and galleries they prefer to see.

Guest Speaker: Chris McKenzie (Academic Internships Council).  Highlighted internship locations will include New York City, San Francisco, England, Germany, & Singapore.

DC Comic’s Marc Andreyko is coming to speak at MSU. Hear the comic book writer and screenwriter talk about his career and book Love is Love.

Readjusting to a new culture can be tricky but coming home has its challenges as well.

This workshop will:

•       Give you the chance to share your experiences with other returning students
•       Provide resources to help you stay connected to the culture and language

•       Teach you how to use your study abroad experience  to impress future employers

Photographer Alec Soth documents American social and geographic landscapes. Soth has published over twenty-five books, and his work was featured in the 2004 Whitney Biennial. His work is in the permanent collections of the Getty Museum, CA, Walker Art Center, MN, and the Whitney, NY, along with many others. Soth is a member of Magnum Photos and the creator of Little Brown Mushroom.

Experimental design is at the heart of digital humanities research; it is important that DH practitioners learn how and why to conduct an experiment using humanities data. While readymade DH tools are useful, these interdisciplinary habits of mind extend well beyond the life cycle of any particular technology, and are necessary for rigorous and flexible research in digital humanities.

In this workshop, participants will:

1. review the basic components of experimental design,
2. develop their own humanities experiment, using a much-loved text,
3. test preliminary hypotheses,
4. develop an assignment for use in a course.

Part of the MSU Digital Humanities Workshop series, this introductory workshop is open to anyone – students, faculty, staff, the public – from any disciplinary background.
