Olivia Gude is a Professor of Art Education at SAIC and a Professor Emerita at UIC. Gude is a member of the Council for Policy Studies in Art Education and of the Educational Advisory Board of the PBS series Art 21. Her research focuses on developing new paradigms for visual art curriculum.

2018 Art History & Visual Culture Student Symposium @ MSU Library, 4th Floor Green Room
The 2018 Art History and Visual Culture Symposium features independent research projects by students enrolled in HA 499, Senior Research/Professional Development. As the capstone experience for Art History and Visual Culture majors, HA 499 addresses career planning as well as engages students in the production of a substantial scholarly paper under the guidance of an art history faculty member.
In addition to the symposium, Dr. Stephen Eisenman will be offer a Keynote Lecture on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 6pm in the MSU Main Library, 4th Floor Green Room.

DR QIANA WHITTED / FEBRUARY 23 / MSU LIBRARY BEAL ROOM / 12PM                                                                               

Dr. Qiana Whitted teaches at USC, her research focuses on African-American literary studies and American comic books. Her most recently published articles and book chapters explore race, genre, and comics in representations of historical figures such as Nat Turner, Stagger Lee, and Emmett Till. Her forthcoming book on race and social protest in 1950s EC comics will be published in 2019. Whitted is the 2019 Comics Forum Scholar Keynote Speaker.

Please join the Creative Writing Program and the RCAH Center for Poetry for Live Lit, a showcase of undergraduate writing, featuring the work of Cassandra Bloomingdale, Madeline Bradley, and Hannah Ramirez.

The three readers will also engage in conversation about writing and craft with Romeo Oriogun, author of  The Origin of Butterflies, published through the New Generation African Poets Chapbook Series.  The event will be held Tuesday, October 29, at 7 pm in the LookOut Gallery of Snyder-Phillips Hall.  The event is free and open to the public.
