Haiti Bride is a 2014 Caribbean avant-garde film written, produced, and directed by Trinidadian filmmaker Robert Yao Ramesar. It tells the story of Marie Thérèse, a Haitian-born woman who returns to her homeland to meet her husband Paul, who lost his memory after the 2010 Haiti earthquake. This film was shot entirely on location in Haiti. This is what Yao Ramesar says about the film, and Caribbean cinema: “my trademark aesthetic [is] Caribbeing, specifically examining where aesthetic, practical and thematic considerations interact to influence the morphology of my film, Haiti Bride (2014). . . . Let me begin by saying that I do not believe that there can be any overarching Caribbean aesthetic.”

A Skype conversation with Yao Ramesar will be held after the screening.
