Israeli filmmaker and Serling Visiting Israeli Scholar Dr. Yael Katzir will discuss the screening of her film Shores of LightShores of Light tells the true story of poor Italians in southern Italy welcoming thousands of Jewish displaced persons, WWII Holocaust survivors on their way to Israel. The film is also about the journey of three Israeli women born in Italy at that time, children of Jewish refugees.  They have returned to the place of their birth in search of the people that were so important in their parents’ lives.  Rare, historic photos and video clips intertwine history and the present. Co-sponsored by MSU Libraries, James Madison College, Center for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies, the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities, Global Studies in the Arts and Humanities, the History Department, and the College of Arts and Letters.
