Global Festival is a signature annual event of the Office for International Students and Scholars. International students representing dozens of countries around the world come together to share their culture and talents with exhibits and demonstrations, exciting and colorful performances, and interactive dance workshops.

The Global Festival has something for everyone: students, community members, and families alike. Have your “passport” signed as you wander through the different country exhibits. Enjoy live dance performances or a cultural fashion show. Purchase gifts at the Gift Shop, where all proceeds are used for scholarships for international students.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, November 10th, 2019, from 12-5pm in the MSU Union.

The Global Festival is sponsored by The Office for International Students and Scholars, MOSAIC, University Activities Board, MSU Union and Community Volunteers for International Programs.

Are you interested in completing an internship in New York City this summer while earning MSU credit?  MSU partners with an organization that identifies customized internship placements for students in New York City in industries such as arts and culture, finance and advertising, politics and law, health and community services, communications and public relations, marketing and journalism, hotels and tour operators, and many more.

They provide an intensive research experience on a particular topic within a scholarly discipline. For undergraduates with plans for graduate or professional school after MSU, summer research provides the opportunity to expand your professional network and acquire experience in an area of interest. In this workshop, you will learn more about summer research, the benefits of participation, and effective search strategies, including how to find and apply for opportunities.

Michigan State University’s Usability/Accessibility Research and Consulting (MSU UARC) will host Michigan’s 17th annual World Usability Day event on November 14th, 2019.

World Usability Day is the largest gathering of industry professionals, world-class academics, government leaders, and students facilitating the progression of usability, user experience, and user-centered design. Each year, the World Usability Day community holds over 150 events in more than 40 countries. Michigan State University’s event draws speakers and attendees from all parts of North America representing industry, government, and academia.

World Usability Day was founded to explore ways to ensure that the services and products important to life are easier to access and simpler to use.

This year’s theme is “Design for the Future We Want.”

Learning Abroad Conference @ MSU International Center

MSU Learning Abroad Conference (LAC) features presentations from students returned from international learning experiences and international students currently studying abroad here in East Lansing.  Since its inception in 2012, over 300 students have presented at the annual conference.  Domestic and International students from all academic levels—first year undergraduates to doctoral students—and a variety of academic disciplines have participated.  They have utilized the LAC as an opportunity to share their education abroad experiences with fellow students, family, friends, and the greater MSU community.  Presentations include a variety of formats such as poetry, journal entries, music compositions, video, and more.
