Join the 2020 Virtual Summer of Service Challenge today to earn service hours, engage in a variety of service projects, get involved in different communities, earn awards, and have fun!
Starting Monday, June 15th and ending Sunday, August 9th, over 16 service project ideas will be posted on the Center for Community Engaged Learning’s website and Instagram page (@communityengagedlearning_msu) for students to engage in throughout the summer. Projects will vary in theme and service type—from advocacy to volunteering to community conversations. The more projects you complete and reflect on, the higher the award you’ll receive!
Not only is this a great way to get involved, while remaining socially connected and physically distant, but it also provides the opportunity to earn service hours toward the Spartan Volunteer Service Award! You may reflect on your service, and add to your My Spartan Story Spartan Experience Record–all while helping others and benefiting communities.

The National Museum of American Diplomacy is hosting its second hackathon, this time virtually! Starting July 15, participants will compete using their tech skills and creativity to enhance the general public’s understanding of diplomacy and its related skills.
Over 100 students and recent grads participated in ImpactHack2018. One of the projects resulted in a full-size interactive at the museum. The projects of ImpactHack2020 will also serve as prototypes to freely-accessed interactives in the new museum.
ImpactHack2020 is available to all ages. Explore the two project options, see the full schedule, and sign up. Interested in volunteering? Contact NMAD@state.gov!
Funded by the generosity of the MSUFCU and individual donors, the MSUFCU Internship Opportunity Award provides stipend awards of up to $1,000 each to help cover out-of-pocket expenses related to an unpaid internship. The number of awards will be based on available program funds and demonstrated student interest and need. Contingent awards are available for students who have not accepted an internship offer by the application deadline, but internships must be secured (confirmed) with 10 days of the deadline. (Many awards will be for less than the maximum $1,000 award.)
